St Peter's is a large, imposing 12th century church with ornate memorials and colourful stained glass, with possibly the finest spire in Shropshire. It has very rare 12th century 'picture' doors, fine 17th century monuments, a leper's hatch and wonderful refurbished stained glass. The church is situated in the middle of the picturesque village of Worfield named after the River Worfe.
At the foot of the stairs leading to the gallery, there is a doorway, probably dating back to the 13th century, and next to it a square hole which would have given lepers access to the service. The church would have been considerably smaller at that time and this would have been an outside wall.
The interior, looking west, shows the modern Madeley room used for meetings. At the top of the stairs is a pair of ancient doors thought to be 12th century. This is one of the earliest uses of iron for decoration.
There are two magnificent and imposing memorials to members of the Bromley family, carved in alabaster.
